Special thanks to our ComGroup who came over and helped out at our new house tonight! We shared our official first meal in the house with Brian, April, Joel, Valerie, Dale, Cruz, Jen and Krista! After some tours of the house and eating, we got to work. We still have a little more drywall to hang in the office, but now we're close to done with that stage.
The handyman came at the end of today and actually got started - a big relief! With the work we got done tonight, he'll be able to make even more progress tomorrow.
One thing that's surprised me... Several people offered to help on the house, and I totally believed them and was (what's the right word here? honored? pleased? feeling loved and supported?) by the offers. Something I didn't expect was that the feeling (whatever word you use) is multiplied by 1000 when people are actually there helping. I spent many months of this last year hearing from the Cavins how they felt love from the body of Christ as people served and helped them with things they couldn't do on their own. I thought I understood their gratitude, but I think experiencing a small portion of what they experienced has opened my eyes a little wider. There seems to be a difference between knowing and believing something is true and experiencing it. And that somehow surprised me!
I've got pictures from the work tonight as well as some "then and now" pictures. Enjoy!
Jen and Krista then showed off their expertise with screwdrivers, hammers, and tape
